Learning social skills in Kiwican

Every week we attend a Kiwican class where we learn about different social skills. This term we have been learning about emotions, self control, actions and words. We have lots of fun in Kiwican! We play games to help us reinforce all of the social skills like honesty, working with others, self control, patience etc.

You can see us in action below:

Here we are listening to Matua Richard our Kiwican leader

Tuesday 13 August 2013

Most days when it is not raining or wet we go out onto the courts to practise skipping. We are getting ready for our Jump Rope For Heart special fundraising skip-a-thon on Friday 13 September.
Some of our skipping champions who can skip the most times are Taufa, Fakasi'si, Lucas and Vaeruarangi.
Last Tuesday Constable Dave came to our class to take a session on our topic of Keeping Ourselves Safe . He talked about How We Feel. We learnt how to say how we felt in words, in different situations. We also talked about when we felt safe and unsafe. We talked about feeling happy, sad, proud, confused and angry.
Constable Dave could not come yesterday as he had to do special police work.
